Hello Welcome to the forum without pictures "SEE THE STICKY POST first few at top of this forum on how to post pictures" .We most likely will not be of much help. Your question is sort of like I have a Ford car with sign on the door jam that says made by Buick division of general motors WHAT IS IT WORTH. There is no Winchester made by H&R and we would not be able to tell you when it was made without serial number and what it was worth without seeing condition. Please think about what you are asking and please help us to help you. 0 -
I will add this... if the gun is marked Harrington & Richardson Arms Co., it is not a Winchester.
I believe that Harrington & Richardson made shotguns circa 1890 - 1930, and single-shot shotguns of that era are worth very little as there is no collector market for them, and they are only marginally safe to shoot with modern factory loaded shells.0 -
Thank you both for your information. This does help. You are right it says harrington & richardson worchester Mass. Not winchester. the serial number is sn 271900. But the date range that they were produced and the fact that they have no collector value, is really what I was looking for. THANK YOU for the additional information regarding not using them with modern ammo. Something I suspected, but did not know. I would still be interested to know how I can figure out the actual age.
Your help is greatly appreciated..!!0 -
Hello Terry,
Firearms that have a collector following have been researched and written about... those that have no collector interest (value) have not typically been researched and information published, as there simply is no market for the gun or the information. I doubt that much (if any) information exists for the many thousands of H & R shotguns that were manufactured over many decades. That said, there is a slight possibility that Bill Goforth may have some information on your shotgun. Search the Members list and send him a PM.0
