Sig Sauer 22 Mosquito
I'm thinking of purchasing a Sig Sauer 22 Mosquito and wondering what people's experiences have been with them. I heard they were finicky with certain ammo. I appreciate any input - thanks!

As you have noted they don't have the greatest reputation. Although they are sold under the Sig name they are actually made by a firearms manufacturing company in Germany who specializes in making replica firearms, using zinc diecastings rather then steel.
For a more comprehensive first hand assessment of the Mosquito you might use GOOGLE to find a site called Rimfire Central. There are hundreds of posts regarding the Mosquito on it, both pro and con. Many suggested fixes also, to remedy the Mosquito's many shortcomings.0 -
My Dad has one, yes it is picky with some types of ammo, but so are most other semi auto 22's, although I would never trade one of my Ruger MK-'s for a Mosquito it is still a nice shooting little pistol 0 -
Bob I just bought one and per the manual if you stick to CCI Mini Mags and the recoil spring they recommend(it comes with 2 for different types of ammo) and keep it well lubed you should not have a problem. I have not had a chance to shoot mine yet due to the weather but I have gone into the back yard and cycled a few magazines of the Mini Mags and there were no failures to load--will have to see how it runs when actually fired though which I hope to do this weekend. 0 -
My best bud and I both have one , mine 3 yrs old his less then 1 yr old. Both had ammo preference problems[ liked CCI mini-mags only] until about 1 thousand rounds fired, slowly after using only Mil-Tek oil for lube they both are now 100% reliable with all but the cheaper versions of 22 ammo . Both are fun plunkers that will keep 2 " groups at 30 to 45 feet. with Federal auto match. For a 22 cal. $300. pistol that emulates a full size Sig we are both more then pleased. 0 -
I have one as well, and it's a reliable as my old Ruger Mk I. I am not as good a shot with the Sig as I am with the Ruger, I think the trigger's a bit mushy on the Mosquito. 0 -
I've had one for 2 1/2 years. It works great with CCI and Federal American Eagle hi speed .22HPs 0 -
I've got one that I think is a great training gun. I have had some issues with what types of rounds it uses, but based off of what everyone else is saying I'm going to have to give it a steady diet of Mini-Mags. The bottom line for me is it's alot of fun to shoot and works well for cheap training as well. I hope you have alot of fun with yours if you decide to buy it! 0
