FURTHER INFO ON STOLEN GUN SOLD ON GUN BROKER
I see you wonderful gun buffs have started your own thread on my terrible situation. I wanted to inform you the Livonia Pawn was VERY uncooperative in my quest to retreave my $2,900.00. I had tried the easy way first and that was get my money back through Cabela's Visa, when that didn't work, I attacked the Pawn shop, and got NO cooperation from them even afer I had faxed them both Police reports, the Tennessee Police report and the original Texas Police report from when the gun was STOLEN in 1988, only when I was going to sue them in there county in there state did they finally put my $2,900. in my Visa account and the money just arrived in my Visa yesterday. I CANNOT PRAISE my ATF. agent enough he personally got me the Texas Police report, and Pawn shop knew they were DEAD in the water with that Police report, if they went to Court. REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED TO ME CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE.

I've been following this from the beginning. I'm glad everything finally turned out ok. Congratulations. 0 -
VI don't know about another thread,,but glad you got your money back. Damn shame things happen and I could not take a 2900 hit,,that would hurt alot. Although you are out considerable time and effort, eventually it did pay off. I haven't run into this and hope NEVER will, but like you said it could happen to anyone. Good luck in the future.[:)]..mm8nambu 0 -
I'm not taking sides in this but look at it from the p.s. side. A 2 year old customer FAX'S in 2 police reports and demands nearly $3 grand be returned to him. If I was the p.s. I'd sure as hell wait for more info/official documentation. 0 -
Good job, Jerry. I'm glad it all worked out for you. 0 -
I also am happy the way it finally turned out. I tried sending you an email but it would not go through. I found this saga very informative and interesting. 0 -

What would be more official than two police reports saying the gun was stolen?
This is the business they chose and they know the risks they are taking. That is why they pay pennies on the dollar.0 -
Hi Mike Whiskey
All the Police reports that VERIFIED the gun was STOLEN in 1988 in Texas and Documention where I bought the gun from the Pawn shop that sold the gun on GUN BROKER auction to me, and a copy of my Visa transaction where I paid $2,900.00 for the STOLEN gun. And you say I should't have been trying to get my money back, Well I disagree with YOU. Here is my opinion, if Mike Whiskey was in my shoes Mike Whiskey would have been tyring to get his $2,900.00 back.
Thanks again for all the fine support on what was a HUGE DILEMA that I spent many many hours in retreaving my $2,9000 -
Jerry,
OK, that'll do it! I have been sitting on my hands for a while on this one, and appreciate the dilema. I would have gone after them legal guns ablazin too. Be glad this played out OK for you. Mike Whiskey is a good guy, and if you will take the time to read the post he made, he is merely stating he would have wanted serious documentation before he (if he were in the PS's shoes) choked up nearly $3000 to someone who may or may not have been correct! Never did he say you should eat the money and count it as some kind of GD object lesson?! You recieved really good advice here from my contemporaries, and I am beginning to be a little annoyed that you just seem to want to beat this dead horse endlessly.
You also seem to be dissatisfied with GunBroker, and keep capping your points refferring to GB and the fact they middle manned a stolen gun on you? Keep firmly in mind the nice folks who helped you out here are, for the most part, Gunbroker customers, well satisfied and doing their level best to make you happy re: your Gunbroker purchase. If you check the rules of purchase on this site, they pretty well guarantee you NOTHING in terms of financial recompense. Your pistol was purchased through Gunbroker, not FROM Gunbroker. Good thing you used your Cabela's Visa! They merely provide you with a set of feedback results that should help YOU make an informed decision on your purchases. I have been using this site fort many years. I have never experienced an issue that was not resolved to my satisfaction.
Again, I am really, genuinely happy this worked out well for you, but for Christs sake, let's move on and QUIT taking shots at Gunbroker and Mike?! Be cognizant of the fact you also have the feedback recourse as well. If you are still that pissed at Livonia, and there is a salient issue to post, put it in their feedback! Please keep in mind that if you got your money back, and things DID work out in the end, an F rating for them would be innapropriate. Maybe a D, as you feel they were uncooperative and dragged their feet. An F would indicate they, in the end, did NOT get you satisfaction without legal proceedings.
Good luck in your future endeavors, and know we are all here to help.0 -
Glad things worked out. Certainly there were lessons learned all around. 0 -
Hi Kyster
Sorry I still don't enterterperate Mike's comments as you do. He thinks the Pawn shop didn't do anything wrong, and I have never dealt with with people like this Pawn shop, they were terrible to try to get my $2,900.00 from. And Gun Broker never helped or ever recognized this huge problem, and since they layed low and never helped, they lost me as a gun buying customer that has money to spend. There is a right and a wrong and the Pawn shop was wrong simple as that.0 -
I am happy it worked out well. This has been the subject of six threads in two weeks and it really should have gone over to General Discussion early on where it could have had unlimited responses. The subject has been covered in more then enough detail to make this the final installment in the saga. 0
