20 ga o/u F. Sarrugarte-Elgoibar
I have a new 20 ga. o/u F. Sarrugarte-Edlgoibar and am trying to learn the approximate value of it. I read that this gun was made by one of the finest gun makers in Spain. It has been in storage for a number of years. It has engraving and also has the word "Silver" on the receiver. I read they make 2 models, gold and silver with gold the more expensive one. This gun was in the family and I don't believe it was ever shot. Appreciate any help you can give. Thanks.

Check out Terry Wielands Guns of Spain...it has a neat section on the companies history. Yes, they were/are considered in the top %25 of all spanish shotguns. I googled "sarriugarte shotgun spanish" and came up with an excerpt of the book. 0 -
Thanks for the info about the book but I have been unable to learn anything about this gun on that site. I have, however, found the serial number F.S. 9607420-76. Will this help me in any way learn when it was made and the approximate value? The gun is NIB. Thanks for your help. 0 -

During the 1980's, American Arms imported several O/U models made by Francisco Sarriugarte in Elgoibar, Spain. These guns featured a locking system with double Purdey extensions which fit into recesses in the standing breech and were locked by a sliding flat crossbolt ( somewhat similar to a Kersten /Greener system but, without the pierced extensions. ). The Model Silver was a basic boxlock O/U. The advertised price was US$500.-. Current value for a 95%+ example would be in the $400.- to $500.- range. Sarriugarte also built sidelock ejector O/U's. The top of the line Excelsior Model featured deep chiselled game scene engraving with gold inlayed birds. The sidelocks employed coil springs rather than the traditional flat V springs and retained the double safety sear.
The firm was merged into the ill fated Diarm venture and died with it in the late 1980's. The Sarriugarte brothers later founded Armas Keman which currently produces Boss actioned O/U's in competition and field grade models.
