A-Bolt safety issue
a pard recently purchased a browning a-bolt medallion grade in 300win. The safety won't engage. The rifle performs fine other than this. The tang safety simply won't slide into the safe position. I applied a LOT of pressure, but was unable to get it to the safe position.
what issue could this be?? something broken in the trigger group?? the trigger pull wasn't light, so I am doubting the trigger was adjusted in any way.

More often than not, if you have de-stocked the gun for maintenance etc., you have somehow impinged the springs, or in some other way dis-connected the safety slide in the slot where it rides in the movement channel. 0 -

Definitely get ahold of Browning and see what they offer for options.
The way you describe it, it sounded like the trigger had been adjusted too lightly. It may just be the safety is out of adjustment where the trigger is set. Or the slide (or part attached) is broken in two and won't let the safety engage. Browning should direct you to a gunsmith or facility to get it fixed.
Then of course there are aftermarket triggers...[:D]0 -
my pard bought this gun used, so I have no idea as to what "may" have been done to it.
The trigger, if it was adjusted down, wasn't by much, since it still feels like the lawyer trigger we have all come to know and love[V]
maybe I'll have him bring it by and I'll drop the action loose from the stick and take a look-see.
thanks for the places to check0 -

Lawyer trigger has me concerned,,,shouldn't be that bad. I pulled out one of my (older) A-Bolts and trigger is pretty dard good...Look see and you can/ will probably detect what it is...safety first of course.0
