327 federal mag
I am wondering if there is another shell casing that can be resized down to fit a 327 mag. In the past I have been able to use 357 mag with a conversion die to change to a 264 winchester mag. So I am hoping someone out there has a way to do the same to make 327 mag. I recently purchased a Ruger Blackhawk 327 and find the ammo is very expensive and want to reload my own. Any help is appreciated. My e-mail is datmat11@hotmail.com appreciate any replys by e-mail.

well after you buy a few boxes you will have brass to reload or look on the auction side for some for sale or check with starline brass works 0 -
.357 to .256 Mag maybe?? .264 Win Mag is a belted 2.5" case last time I looked. Try Starline, maybe they have stuff now... 0 -
The 327 fed cartridge is merely a lengthened magnum version of the 32 H & R Magnum and the 32 S & W long. Just by adjusting your reloading dies you can use either one of these cases. Obviously seen both of the above are shorter in length then the 327 fed, you will have to reduce your powder charge accordingly. 0 -
I think fordsix is right.
I don't know if there is any other common round that is convertable to a .327 magnum. Its a rimmed cartridge, which is going to really limit the types of brass you might start with. Maybe .32/20?
Even if there were some base rifle round you could whittle down, once you figure in the cost of the necessary dies, the cost of the brass in question, and the value of your time, its probably not going to be worthwhile to try this.
That sort of conversion makes more sense for rounds that are just altogether unavailable, or for European rounds that are Berdan primed and not reloadable.
In this case, .327 ammo may be expensive, but once you get the brass, you should be able to load it many times, thereby diluting the cost.
Starline doesn't make .327 magnum, but don't forget that your gun will also chamber a number of other .32 rounds, including .32S&W, .32S&W long, and .32H&R magnum, and brass for those may be more readily available.0 -

and if you really really need to you can include the 32 ACP in that group , being a semi rimmed 32 cal it does have enought of a rim to hold it in place , i use it many times in my Ruger Single Six that is chamber in 32 H&R mag and it works fine, just shoots a little lower0 -
.264 mag from a .357 case. It's amazing the things I learn on public forums. Who needs loading manuals now that we have the internet? 0 -
