Hey guys, I need some help. I have a colt 22 semi suto. looks like a pre woodsman. the only markings on the gun are.
colt PT.FA MFG CO
HartFord CT. USA
pat D Dec 22 1903
Aug 27 1918
Sept 3 1918
The barrel is 5" long. attachs to the frame with a single take down bolt. the slide is 2" long and has 3 screws on each side to take the slide apart
I have been told it could be a proto type from colt for the woodsman

Pictures are a must I know of no colt pistol with a barrel that you can remove with a screw or a slide with 3 screws. Look At Sticky on how to post picture 0 -
It would not be a proto of a Woodsman with a patent date of 1918. I'd sure like to take a look see. 0 -

High Standard once made a pistol that fits your description, and at first glance you would think it was a pre woodsman. The HS barrels on that model weren't the best, so it's very probable that someone fitted a colt barrel on it. The colt sport (short) barrels didn't appear until about 1937, so it was done sometime after that. 0
