Marlin .357 1894 carbine question
Does anyone know the difference between the Marlin .357 mag 1894C and the 1894? Cant get a straight answer from the auctions I've asked. Thanx.

My 94 C has checkering on pistol,grip,and fore-arm. I dont know if 1894 does. 0 -
I had to go look. My Marlin is a 1894 and has no checkering. Hope this helps. 0 -
Howdy runny,
The main internal difference is the newer "C" model has the crossbolt safety.
Also, the older, straight forward non-checkered plain-jane .357/.38 '94 used Marlin's Micro-groove barrel, while the fancier-looking newer "C" uses Ballard rifling.
Oh, and the "C", from the Marlin catelog, shows it has sling swivel studs, non-"C" did not.
EDIT: Non-"C" out of production, but don't know when it stopped? oops, my mistake-- it is still being made, as just looked more closly in their catelog.

http://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/Cowboy/1894_45Colt.asp (It says .45Colt, but inside states comes also in .357 & .44mag)
Anyways, the older/newer comparisions are accurate.
Either way, great handling little rifle.

My "pre-C" Marlin .357 has a gold trigger and no checkering. 1980, I think. 0 -
LOL!-thats Rummy, not Runny! Thanx all for the info. 0 -
My 1894 C has a blued trigger, no checkering, plain front sight(no ramp or hooded), round barrel, no sling studs, and was made in 1981. Super nice shooter ! 0
