    January of 1914.

The short chamber, and the patina finish both negatively impact the collector interest and value.

Really? Does this gun shoot the 2 9/16?

Do you think refinishing the gun would be a good investment?

After looking at pictures on the web, it is clear to me now, that "patina" may have been too strong.

The bluing is very worn, but there is not pitting or rust. I do believe the butt-plate was replaced by the look of originals.

Yes, really. Winchester did not change the chamber length to the now standard 2-3/4" shell until 1926. Your gun was made with a 2-9/16" chamber, and a shorter ejection port.

No, refinishing the gun is a horrible investment... it will cost you at least $300 to have the work done, and it only be worth $250 - $300 after you have the work done.

Interesting. It seems the non-standard/outdated ammo is a big factor...surprising for a 95 year old item.

"It seems the non-standard/outdated ammo is a big factor".........just to note 16 ga. 2 9/16" ammo is available, check with midway. Refinishing will make the shotgun look better, wether it will increase it's value is another thing.
