Remington 1100
I recently took my Remington 1100 down for a thourgh cleaning. Which I have done many times in the past. After I put it back together it will not fire. I have taken it down and put it back together again and again to no avail. I tried replacing my trigger housing with another gun. The results the other gun still fires and mine does not. I've checked the firing pin. It is unbroken and looks damaged free. When you go to shoot it. It does not even leave a mark on the cap. So the firing pin is not making contact. I've tried to stick my knife next to the firing pin. That was a stupid move, broke my knife point. So the hammer is striking the firing pin. Or real close to it as far as I can tell. Any ideas?

Is there a website that CLEARLY explains (preferably with good pictures), how the gas ring(s) are installed on a 1981 vintage 1100 12 ga 2 3/4" and a 2005 vintage 1100 youth 20 ga 2 3/4". The pictures in the factory literature don't really explain it well enough for mr to understand. I am not a shotgunner. thanks 0 -
Check the auctions. Lots of 1100's listed. 0 -
basically the only 1100's worth more than normal would be the skeet B grades, the T trap grade and the trap with the step rib. If you happen to have a 34 in barrel they alone are worth good bucks 0 -
You don't need to know it's age.
The serial number doesn't tell you anything about the model, grade, or variation.
PHOTOS TELL US ALL WE NEED TO KNOW TO ADVISE YOU WHAT YOU HAVE. If you can't post photos when you are asking for information on the value of your shotgun, how are you going to post photos when you offer it for sale?

Hey you can call Remington and they will tell you when it was made. If you want you can email me and I will give you the number. I have it at work. I have called a lot of times. Why do you want to sell it? The older 1100's are great guns. Better built than the new ones.
And for the guy that said 1100's are not worth anything, then he does not have a 1100 410, 16ga and 870 410 all new in the box from the 1978-1979.

Neal, If you call Remington with the serial number can't they tell you exactly what the gun is(model grade variation). I know they can with rifles. Anything other than a standard 12 gauge is worth more. 0 -
If the barrel is original, you can date the shotgun by the barrel date codes usually found on the left side of the barrel where it meets the receiver. The date codes are 2 or 3 small letters. Find them, then refer to the chart at this link:
