Is the gun marked "Colt .357" on the barrel? And does it have the factory wood grips? If so, then I agree with Knifecollector. Maybe even $550 for a nice one. Only about 15K of these guns were made, and the early ones were Python-smooth.

If it looks like this one, I agree about $450-$550 range. I have a 4" as well as this 6" and thats roughly what I paid. These early .357's have the Python actions. The only thing they are missing is the ventilated rib and a shiny finish.

I've got one with a 4" barrel, I carry it quite a bit so I removed the original grips for safe keeping and put these Pachmayrs on it.
