SAR 48
HEY! What is the differance in the SAR 4800 Match and the 1005 - SA- 48- MATCH and which is more desirable? I have the SA- 48. It has an I cut receiver, bypod and muzzle break. I bought this gun around 1980 and used it for plinking until i found out how accurate the gun is. I have used it to hunt dear and other Northamerican game with over the years and at the range at 200-600 yrd. targets. You have to like the extra weight to carry it but i only hunt with it on sertain hunts.
Thanks for any info or opinions.

Oh yea, my gun is marked Springfield Inc. Colona, Il. USA. Made in Brazil.

The 4800 was a later import.
Both were made on licensed machinerery by Imbel and imported by Springfield Armory. Value wise they are close, with the 48 being worth a tad more if NIB compared to a NIB 4800.
Only big difference will be if the 4800 is in 5.56/223 vs 7.62x51/308 - not many were made or imported.0 -

48 is preban, 4800 is postban 0 -
Not all 4800s are .223, but all of the .223 Springfield Armory FAL types are 4800s. 0
