Credit card processing
Hello. Are any dealers aware of a law that prohibits processing a credit card over the phone via keying in the credit card for gun sales? I just did one for a gun I sold online and my merchant company is telling me it's unlawful to do so and they have to void the transaction.
Thanks,
Mike

With so many land shark lawyers looking to sue somebody for anything nowadays. Legal liability is a frighting thing for many businesses. I doubt very seriously that it's against the law. They just are scared of any kind of legal liability regarding their involvement in any sort of a firearms transaction.
It's time for you to find a new Credit Card processor, IMHO.0 -
I agree 100%. This really bugs the heck out of me. Mainly because this was never discussed when I set up the account. I told them a certain percent would be keyed in phone orders. Seems like an attempt at corporate gun control!
Anyone have recommendations for merchant services for gun dealers?
Thanks,

Okay, it is clearly not illegal, just their corporate policy. Corporate gun control. They said they are concerned about gun sales and shipping. I tried to explain the legal way it's done but screw it, it's like talking to a brick. I terminated this useless account.
