    Thanks. Could not recall ever hearing that one way was preferred so I figured it didn't matter but I always want to check.

    Haven't shot my Garand much lately but I have recently thought it might be better to have the high cartridge on the right. Looks like you might get a little better "push" on the clip that way. Never made any real difference to me, either.

    It might matter to your thumb, but not the gun. I load my clips with the top round on the right, left clip in pic, as its more friendly for right thumb loading, at least in my case.
