    Anvil Hammered was a tradename used by Robeson Cutlery Company. Yours sounds like a butchers knife, but would need to see a picture to confirm.

    I think you are talking about a Green River buffalo skinner. If that is the case, the knife was, I believe, an original Green River design dating back to the fur trade days. It is an old design utilitarian knife that was copied by others. Google it up and you should be able to see several examples. The knife's modern version, still under the name, Green River (and others), is available usually through these suppliers who sell period re-enactment gear, such as Dixie Gun Works, Track of the Wolf and others. It is a fairly simple knife, made of a steel blank and with a hickory, maple or other hardwood handle scales, attached with two or three brass cutlery rivets. It has a fairly unique, very upward-curved blade with a big belly up front.
