colt frontier scout
need info on Colt Frontier Scout ser# 707xxF. Date of manufacture? Value some wear on it but not much, looks like shot very little. Have original box, matching ser#. Came with owners man and warranty card and cleaning rod. Still has the brown wrapping paper in box. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

See the "sticky" for Serial Number DOM Reference Sources and click on the second link noted for Colt, and take if from there. Sounds like you have a nice collectible Colt Scout. Spider is up on these neat Colts and will help you provided you can post pictures so he can appraise it for you. Other than waiting for him, or someone like him to help, you can go to completed auctions and check similar type past auctions to get an idea of what your Colt might bring on GB's auction side. 0 -

Does the box and paperwork add any value and did the cleaning rod normally come with it? The box has old tape on all four corners of the top piece. 0 -

The box definitely adds value. What's the barrel length and type of grips? What percentage of original finish remains on the revolver?0 -
Cant post a pic right now. It seems to be probably 90-95% original bluing a very little wear on cylinder a little wearing on the end of the barrel left side. Black plastic checkered grips with colt emblem at the top. It has a 4" barrel from frame to end. Sounds good shoots good looks good. As i said box has tape on all four corners of top half, bottom half of box is pretty good if it is this old. Has original warranty card and owners manual. There is a cleaning rod in box. It is a spiral wire about 8" long with a brushed end about 3" long. I know some of the older models have a pinned barrel, this one does not. does not look to have been shot very much to be this old. Still has brown oily paper wrapper inside box. Just curious about it. 0 -

Well, without seeing it, I would "guesstimate" it in the $400-$500 range. The barrel should actually be 4_" measured from the muzzle to the face of the cylinder.0 -
Thanks for the info. I'll try to post some pics when i'm set up to do it. 0
