It's unfortunate that the rifle has been buggered and whether you can accept it with the blemish is up to you. If you don't want it, please let me know where I can buy it as I have a customer who wants it. Thanks

Sounds like a good buy and if you decide to sell it later I see no problem getting your money back out of it. If it is not engraved to deeply it could possibly be buffed out and reblued. If it were me I would buy it.

Thanks for the replies! I was hoping that you all would say that it is/was a good deal as the chance that the rifle would be sold to someone else, got the better of me. I went down Wednesday afternoon and bought it along with a like new T/C Omega .50 caliber Muzzleloader. The T/C Omega was sitting back behind a couple of cheaper and crappy looking In-Lines and I asked "can you tell me what that muzzleloader is?". The lady said a Thompson Center and that she would take a $110 for it. Well, I got both of them out the door for only $430 and I was whistling Dixie all the way home![:D] Now to get a couple of boxes of shells for the 7mm Express and see what it can do. I will probably sell my' Winchester Model 70 Pro or Ultimate (I can't tell these apart) Shadow in 7mm WSM and my' Knight LK-93 .50 caliber Muzzleloader, so that I won't feel the pinch on the budget so bad.

Well if you follow this link you will find a list of folks who work on, and make, or have hard to find parts for the particular rifle you want. Good luck

Thanks! I would imagine that parts from any of the Gun Dealers and Gunsmiths listed, could be fairly costly but it is great information to have!

I will give a little more information on the purchase as some of the GB forums member that live close enough, might want to visit the shop.

Normally, I do not visit or make purchases from this shop, a somewhat local Pawn Shop due to their previously somewhat questionable and shady past and prices. However, certain things changed with them and the lady (I think part owner) is really trying to change things around and offer some good deals to folks...especially for Christmas. She has marked down all of the Rifles, Shotguns, Muzzleloaders and I think all if not most of the Bows in the Shop. All of the Remington Model 742's (I think there is only two left, a .30-06 with beautiful wood and a really nice .270) have been marked down to $320 out the door. The Remington Model 700's (not sure what the calibers are) in synthetic stocks are $330, the Model 710's and I believe the 770's are marked down to $310 and the Savage 110's (a large assortment of calibers including a .22-250 and 7mm-08) have been marked down to (I think) $310 each. Most if not all of the Rifles are with scopes. I didn't check the prices on the other Muzzleloaders and Single barrelled shotguns but the Pump Shotguns were marked down to $280 and the Automatics (quite a few nice ones including Remington 1100's) for $320 to $340 out the door. They have many more guns of different makes and models but the ones listed, are the ones that I readily remembered! Also, I am pretty sure that those are the prices but if I am wrong, the prices I gave aren't far off. She is also open to offers and multiple purchases get discounts. Note: They have more guns, bows and other stuff coming out of pawn almost every day, so more items will available.

If it wasn't so close to Christmas and I had or could get a bunch of cash, my' Gun Collection would grow a lot larger!

I will not post the name and location of the Pawn Shop (which is about 45 miles NNE from Knoxville, TN and about 70 miles SW of Bristol, TN) here on the GB forums as I buy from a lot of other Pawn Shops nearby. However, if anyone wants their information, just send me an email. Also, if possible and I am available, I will even meet with any GB forums members and show them around!

I once found a Winchester Model 70A in 22-250. It was in the same kind of condition with a SS# on the barrel that was done with a lazar. I sanded it off and polished it...then reblued just the area...actually it came out great! It's now a "real nice" shooter that anyone would like to have...

I'm not bothered much by "individualization" of firearms. I recently bought a rifle with 24 notches cut into the bottom of the buttstock. I'll just make up my own story about them! I would suggest that you wait a while--I'll bet that a year from now, that scratching won't bother you nearly as much, especially if your gun is a shooter.

I am hoping that that is what can be done to the barrel on this rifle but the SSN# appears kind of deep! I have a Professional Bluing Kit which allows you to Re-Blue only parts or all of metal surfaces on a rifle and if done right, it blends with the orginal bluing. It is the same Bluing solution that the Gun Makers use.

With that process, do you have to apply the bluing to the whole thing, or just the area that was prepped, to make it blend?

That 7mm Express ammo you are looking for is the same as 280 Remington. That is a very good round.
