HK G3A4

Trying to find out for my father what his rifle might be worth-if he were to try and sell it privately. He thinks it was made in 1980 but not 100% sure. In very good condition...thats about all the info I have for now. Can anyone give me a rough idea based on this alone?

HKG3A4...one with the retractable stock.

    It's best to post quality photos for accurate identification and valuation.

    Instructions for posting photos in the forum are on a "STICKY" near the top of our header page.

    If it's pre ban import in at least very good condition it should be worth quite abit. Most HK 91's that are for sale nowadays are postban parts guns that have been assembled with U.S. made receivers.

    The DOM can be ascertained from the German coded proof marks on the receiver.

    I know I am not giving a lot to go on...will try to get some more info and pics. Thanks for help...will update as soon as I can.

    Any HK G3 made in 1980 is a full auto. Are you in the U.S.? If so, it would need to be registered with the Feds... if not, it is contraband.

    If it is not a full auto and made in 1980 it is not an HK G3. How about looking at the actual rifle and telling us what is says on the side of it... that would make it easier to give you an idea of what it is worth...

    Ok, it is definitely not full auto..and to the best of my knowledge (99.9% sure), it is the HK G3A4. Probably just the year that is off then..that was his best "guess". I will try to get some info tomorrow from him. Thanks.

    Unless if I am off with the actual variant model with the gun...but what is displayed in the pic I posted from wickpedia...that is the gun.

    Ok...this might be it...and maybe more probable it looks like-they look very similar but is semi auto and .223. Guess I need to get those numbers :)

    yeah, it's not an HK G3. G3 was the full auto.

    If it's .223/5.56 it may be the HK 93 or a knock off like a Century Arms C93... but if he has had it since 1980 it would have to be an HK 93 since those were the only 223 models made... nice gun.

    Cool, thanks...looks to be the 93 then. Will check it out to be sure and report back...

    If you can't post quality photos of the HK, we need at the very least a specific description of all the markings on it, for correct identification and valuation.


    Because the moderators will close this thread after 10 responses, it would be best if you open a new thread when you get hopefully the photos, or at the very least all the markings on the HK. That way you might be able to get multiple responses regarding the HK from the members.

    Ok, thanks...its an HK 91 .308. I will post pics as soon as I can in a new thread.
