Browning Stalker Recoil Pad

The item that springs to mind would be the Uncle Mikes slip on recoil pad. It (and many other brands like it) simply slips on and over the buttstock and has an area about "2 thick at the recoil pad. This and the stock recoil pad on the buttstock in conjunction would likely really reduce the felt recoiol. One cautionary note; I have seen lots of stock damage from the older types when left on for many years as the bleaching effect was obvious when the pad was removed etc. There are many options, and one you might want to explore would be recoil reducing tubes in the buttstock. These range broadly in price and mechanical function, but would do the trick at the expense of making your stalking rifle into a bench ( read that to mean plain heavy) gun. Also the simple option of drilling out the buttstock under the recoil pad and filling the deep holes with a mixture of lead shot and epoxy to hold it firmly in place.

    hslaterpryce,

I know the woes you are dealing with. I had a SS Stalker in 300 RUM...kicked like a mule. Skip the UNCLE MIKES, and head right to the Simms Vibration Labratories, SVL Limbsaver recoil pad. You have a synthetic stock, and I know the recoil pad would be the same as mine for the RUM. The number is 10002 for the particular one you want. Here is the link to their cross refference fit chart.
