BigHead, I have a Mod 7 with synthetic stock and in the same boat as you. The only pad I found that would fit was a trim to fit. Although I did not contact Remington to see what they had. My is a 7mm Saum and I wanted a little length and recoil reduction.

Recoil only seems a problem when working up loads, never notice hunting. I plan on getting through hunting season then either fitting one or maybe a H-S Precision stock.

    BIGHEAD T,

Remington now has an online parts store:

    http://www.remingtoncountrystore.com/PartsStore.aspx?layout=0&number=3&catalogid=1&categoryid=1038

The pad you want is not listed in the Model Seven section but is available in the M700.

This is the list of precision fit Limbsaver pads (no M7):

There is a slip-on pad for temporary use if that will suffice for the time being.

Brownells offers spacers which can be inserted between your pad and the stock to increase the length. They will require fitting.

I don't have any resources that mention the pads for a Model Seven so I suggest that you decide on which pad and length of pull you want then have a gunsmith fit it for you.

    Best.

Use your buttplate/pad as the template; Trace line on whatever shim suits your fancy; cut or jig saw the pieces. I use 1/4 or 1/8 inch stock usually. Add longer screws (of same pitch style) for the total thickness. I have used wood but in your case plexaglass or a softer/flexable plastic might be a good choice. Also I think a model 7 in 7mm08 is a really nice rifle.
