Ruger mini 14
I heard and read many pros and cons with the mini 14. I was looking to make mime more practicle with some tactical applications i.e. railings, adjustable stock, optics. What do you experts think?
Should I attempt this or should I sell it and get something else?
What aftermarket mags do you recommend?
thanks

What would be a good scope to put on a ruger Mini 14? 0 -
650? 0 -
$400-$450 0 -
Vicg1's $400-$450 sounds in the ballpark. You could also check recent sale prices for Mini-14s that have sold that are similar to yours. 0 -
Ok thanks for all your help I guess that i paid just a little to much from what you are saying. A gun smith said it was worth at least 600 if it had not been fired so again thanks. 0 -
Unfortunately the fact that it is a used gun that is unfired really doesn't matter much when talking about a gun that has no real collector value... what you paid doesn't matter now, water under the bridge. Take it out, shoot it, enjoy it for years to come. 0 -
expert1,
Welcome to the Gunbroker forums!
We've all miscalculated values on firearms or related products. But I think vicg1 makes an important point.
The value of very pedestrian firearms is not enhanced by the term 'unfired'. Unfortunately, it's only those truly collectible examples which benefit from the lack of use.
I personally like used firearms which seem to have some background or stories attached to them but which don't interfere with the use of them on a routine basis. Hand-me-downs from relatives and friends often have great stories to go along with their use.
Enjoy your rifle for what it is, go shoot!

Well I hate to disagree with the experts on this but I really think you've undervalued this gun...Prices for this may be legit in "free" states, but in NY and other commi areas, prebans bring a premium. While you may be right about the unfired part not bringing a premium(which I did add for, possibly wrongly so)you'd be able to get 550 for it here! 0 -
Lets just watch GB item 199852842 and see what it sells for. Sounds very close to the rifle we are discussing here. 0 -
The pre 1981 rifles are extremely hard to find parts for! 0 -

If it's new the way it came from the factory it is not banned under NY law nor is it legal to retrofit it now into a "preban" AW simply because it was originally made before the ban... if it was not in a "banned" configuration before the law it can not be made that way now... so, if it had a factory folder then it would be grandfathered in but as this one is "all wood" then it is no different from a Mini you could buy from any dealer today... correct???0
