Smith & Wesson Date of manufacture 14 K-38

Model 14 K-38 serial number 319087 Can anyone give me the date of manufacture. I have a C&R, and a friend wants to ship me this pistol, saying his father had it about 1960. I need to know if it's 50+ years old to ship to my C&R.

  You need to call your friend & ask him to remove the grips & READ TO YOU THE SERIAL NUMBER ON THE BOTTOM OF THE GRIP FRAME. K38's will have a K in the serial number.

  It was made in 1958, so its good to go as a C&R.
