S&W model 17-4 Unfired?
What would I look for to tell if in fact it is unfired. I know that S&W does test fire at the factory before shipping. I recall reading something about test firing every other chamber which would leave evidence as i recall.
Thanks for any info or input.

Look at recoil shield for indents caused by impact of fired casings, also inspect firing pin tip and firing pin bushing for signs of wear and tear. Many shooters fail to completely clean firing residue from the point/right angle where the top strap joins the frame - above and around the forcing cone, as well as at the angle where the frame meets the bottom strap - below the forcing cone - wipe with a clean, white oily rag - any signs of powder residue? 0
