What kind of rings are you using? You may have .22 scope rings instead of weaver rings. If you are using weaver rings there is no way the ring could move forward or back because the weaver ring has a cross pin in the base. A .22 tip off ring don't. Just a thought.

Sliding in the rings is different from "falling off". I usually clean the rings and scope body with solvent on a rag. On a real kicker, I use red locktite on the joint also. I have had a muzzleloader scope slide w/o this treatment but never after doing this.

Im pretty sure they are weaver mounts. As for the sliding off, I wasn't watching and after a few shots, it slide enough to come off. I tried blue lock-tite and it still came off. I'll try the red. thanks!

I think Winston Bode peged it.

Does your base have cross slots? If it does, the screws you are tightening should index in those cross slots and stop slipage.

Post a pic of the base/ring combination if you can.

If you are using the rings that came with the package gun, the best place for them is in the garbage can. If it is the scope that came with a package, the same for it. Get yourself a set of Burris Signature Zee rings, or a standard type dovetail front, windage adjustment rear base, and the Signature rings, and be done with it.
