The experts will need a little more information to help you put a value on your Sako. Pictures would really help; there's a "sticky" at the top of the Experts forum page that explains how to post pictures. You might want to look at the auction side for Sakos offered for bid and at the closed auction section to see what recent prices have been. The older Sakos in nice original condition, sometimes called "pre-Garcia" (an importer in the 60's/70s) are still much in demand. We really need to see pictures to give you an accurate estimate of value. The low serial number by itself probably won't affect value much but the overall condition of the wood and steel will.

The Sako rifles have the same problem a lot of other high dollar rifles have. The problem is that they are so valuable that usually a person in the market for a nice rifle will buy a new something instead of buying a nice classic rifle. If you are selling, and have time to wait, they bring good money, but if you have to get out of one quick then you won't get anywhere near what it is worth.

My Sako was bought from a dealer that was tired of having it in stock. I bought it for about half of its true value. I know if I ever want to sell, I will have to be patient, or I will only get maybe what I paid.

Value on these rifles is very dependent on condition. Price drops off rapidly if there is any wear or damage.
