importing from germany
A netizen on a different forum needs to import several SxS shotguns from Germany.
What is the process, can a regular FFL do this on a limited basis, and any recommendations for an importer or FFL who can do this in the L.A. area.
Thanks!

I need to import a shotgun from Germany and am finding it difficult to find someone that can or will do it for me. Does anyone here import or can anyone suggest someone for me?
Thanks much for the help

Any FFL dealer can make an "occasional" import for the purposes of resale, the trick is finding one that wants to do it. No firearm enters the United States commercially unless it is on an approved BATFE Form 6 and while there is no charge for the dealer/importer to file the form, naturally he won't do it for you for free. Beyond that you have the usual customs fees and duties and of course the firearms have to be engraved/stamped with the name of the importer. Dealers have approval times of 6 to 8 weeks while registered importers have approval times well under half that length. Licensed importers typically charge fees in the $200 range, plus taxes, shipping, warehouse fees so what ever your pal wants to bring in will probably have $300 in fees tacked onto each unit. 0 -
This outfit has been in business a long time, & I am not aware of any complaints:

At least, his site gives a good explanation of all the charges associated with importing firearms.

If you want to deal with a real solid guy, a Pop and Mom business, try Michael at ETSS ( etssincusa.com ) in Hotchkiss, CO.
That is his business, and he is a real guy...excellent shooter/competitor, as is his wife. He has to be one of the most knowledgeable gun guys I've met.
Mike is Austrian by birth...he speaks about 6 languages, and I'd bet he would be less expensive than Simpson.
