    deerhntr,

I personally have not run into this problem with their factory ammunition. However, a call to Remington on Monday morning should provide a fix for this right away. Both Remington and Winchester have been responsive to ammunition problems that I've run into.

As an aside, this experience clearly demonstrates the affect that primers can have on both accuracy and groups.[:D]

    Best.

I'd examine all remaining rounds, but especially the "silver" for signs that these might be reloads!??

They might have mixed some of the low recoil stuff in the one box of low recoil I have here has silver primers. all of my other Remington ammo has gold primers. just a hunch

The low recoil uses a lighter, pointed bullet which would be very noticeable compared to the 180 RN (as would the recoil).

    A few comments:

-There may be differences in these loads OTHER than primers. (In fact, I think its likely).

-I've heard of unscrupulous individuals buying factory ammo, then swapping it out for reloads prior to returning it. This is one big reason why none of the major chain stores will accept any ammunition in return after purchase.

-I'm sure a phone call to Remington will take care of this. Its my experience that the big ammo makers are all pretty responsive to customers with issues/problems. Its a combination of wanting to retain the business, and of course, liability.

I dont reload, and I shoot alot, we live in the country in the middle of a 320 acre section. I have a 300 yard range about 45 feet from the front door of my house. my family and a few friends shoot regularly. My family (wife, son, doughter and myself) shoot anywhere from 2 to 4 boxes each week apiece. guess what , we shoot remington coelokt. we have had 3 bad factory shells out of thousands, over a period of years. go figure. do you think winchester or fedral has never had a bad run. Just call remington.

I bought 3 boxes of 30-30 core lokt over a period of 2 years. I had 5 bad primers(would not fire) and one cartridge so deformed it would not feed. I quit buying it. I feel same about rem thunder junk .22 ammo.

remington primers are gold. The silver primers, IMHO are from someone putting crappy loads back into a factory box, and getting their money back. I could be wrong, but that would be my first idea of what happened.

Pull them down, and see if the powder charges match, or if the powder even looks the same. Also look for die scrathes on the brass with the silver primers compared to the brass with gold primers.
