    dncpa50,

    Welcome to the Gunbroker forums!

As good as your description might be, the best assistance for us to help you will be a couple of good, sharp photographs of the installation. There is a Sticky at the top of this forums with directions to get you started with posting pictures. It's titled 'Posting Photographs'.

    Best.

    ADDED: Resized photograph

Nothing in either Ball's, Mauser Book or Walter's "Rifles of the World" on Argentine Model 1891 snipers.

The plate mounted on your receiver does look like a pro job though. Doesn't appear to be something bubba did in his garage.

The Argentine 1891 rifle with scope is addressed in Colin Webster's book, "Argentine Mauser Rifles 1871-1959, copyright 2003, pages 78-79.
Argentine 91 snipers have a side mounted SOM (French) 3x scope. Original scopes will have 'SOM', 'RA', and 'Paris' markings.
Less than 500 produced, and most of those had the scopes and mounts salvaged to use on the 1909's.
The only ones I've heard of are museum pieces.

The 1909 Argentine sniper rifle in Ball's book has a German made scope with what appears to also be a "High-Turret" German Mount. Completely different then the side mount on the 1891 pictured.
