Lot of Rifles
I would like to know which of these rifles you think I should keep that will be a good investments and the ones I should sell. What I am trying to do is get some of the cash back on what I have invested in these. All of the rifles are in great condition except for small dings in the wood and all need cleaning.
Savage Mark II or II .303 Carbine, sporter stock in rear standard in front, scope mount and reblued.
Remington Model 700 .223 heavy barrel, fancy wood stock SN D68456xx
Winchester Model 70 SA .308 heavy barrel, synthetic stock SN G21321xx
Ruger Model M77 Mark II .243 heavy barrel, wood stock SN 781-164xx
Remington Model 788 .223 SN B60096xx standard barrel, wood stock.
Savage Model 110FP Cal .223 heavy barrel, Savage tactical marked on the bolt, SN F4593xx.
.38 S&W .38 special marked marked CTG on the barrel which is 9 or 10 inch barrel. The cylinder yoke is marked 14-4, SN 31k33xx.
Which would you keep, which would you sell?
Thanks
Emmett
PS: I just purhased these weapons are new to me.

Keep the Smith , none of the others will appreciate in value 0 -
Unless you really need the money, not the greatest time to be selling anything.
Many of the rifles you have listed show up on the 2 big on-line auctions. You probably can get ball-park values that way.
Similar modern rifles are also still available from Remington, Savage & Ruger. Per your description of their condition my WAG is that would book out at 50% to 75% of MSRP or online discount retail price, which ever was less. That's with the assumption you can find a private party who's willing to buy them. You would be really lucky if a dealer would even give you 50%.
The 788 is probably the best of the lot, I would keep that one.0 -
I would keep the S&W 38, the Remington Model 788 .223 and the Remington 700 .223! The S&W 38 should appreciate in value, the Remington 788's are getting tougher to find in decent condition and in .223 it should appreciate somewhat as Shooters and Collectors find the supply diminishing over time. Although, the Remington 700 .223 is fairly plentiful but a really nice one with the heavy barrel and fancy stock is and will be popular and sought after for many years to come by Shooters and Collectors alike. I don't see the others increasing in value that would warrant keeping them but as been previously stated, you might want to wait until the depressed Economy and values on the Gun Market improve!

All good advice. If strapped pick one and sell on www.gunbroker.com
You can always put a reserve min $$ to achieve a certain return.0 -
I agree with huntsman. 0 -
the remmy 700 223 0 -
The Smith & Wesson is a Model 14, also called "K-38 Target Masterpiece". Yours is engineering change -4, so you want to list it on GB as "Model 14-4". I'm guessing that the barrel is really 8 3/8" long, but you can verify that by purchasing a solid-state measuring device known as a "ruler".

Huntsman has the exact order as I would have,,for the same reasons...Great minds think alike.[:)] 0 -
Thank, you for your comments! I just purchased these rifles and hand gun and will now be able to keep the ones with value and sell the ones that will best get back some money spent.
Thank, you

Emmett,
I'm thinking you have a Savage No. 4 Mk I or I* Not Mk II. The difference is volley or peep sights. I's had volley's and I* had the peeps. Good rifle running around $100 for battle condition. Up to $300 for excellent condition. As it has been modified I would sell it unless you really love shooting it.
I would keep the Rem 700 .223 or Savage Tactical and sell the 788. Somehow or other these got the nod as collectors. They are not. They shoot decent but nowhere close to the Savage or Rem 700. And, not as good as the 700 because the bolts being silver soldered on makes you definitely not want to push a load in one. The 700 on the other hand has everything going for it. Nice wood accuracy. My personal experience is that Savages will outshoot them. You shoot you decide which one.
Keep the Winchester model 70 SA in .308
Depending on how far you shoot varmints and how accurate it is I would sell or keep the Ruger .243. You can probably get the most money out of it. If you don't shoot long range varmint, the .223 will do everything it will. If your varmint shooting IS long distance and the Ruger is accurate, sell the .223's and keep this.
As far as the pistol it boils down to need. Are you keeping this for collectability or use it for home defense, truck gun, etc.? If not using it, sell it.0
