    Is the rail in front of and part of the trigger guard? If so could be a winchester or a AR-7 I think they were called.

    Does it have a plastic stock or wooden, is it old or new?

    Just a few questions to get us going till you get a picture up.

    What do you mean by a "rail"?
    Some of the older Marlins had a "finger" that fit between the "shell compartment" and the retainer bar of the magazine (you pressed the retainer release and it moved away from the box the shells were in)

    wow you guys are good the post with the aution listing look almost like it...the action is the same.... i belive the only diffrence is my stock has the sling swivel on the side of the butt stock and the very front of the stock is black tiped and it folds down for a foward handle

    your "start" button, You will see it's a camera lens. I saw you holding the gun. Now go put some clothes on.......[:D]

    This is a Mossberg 142A. The later version has a black plastic fold down forearm, and round bolt handle instead of the barrel shape. Is that yours? If so, barrel should be marked with make and model, but these never had serial numbers,
