Pardon My Ignorance...
Hello Forum,
I've been wanting to buy some linked .308 ammo, but having never been in the military, I'm STUPID and don't know how to de-link the stuff.
Is it harmful to the case or do you need a special tool??? Is there any lube or residue that will need to be cleaned off before I run them in my AR10's???
Thanks.
John

Hold the belt in your hand, and press the end round, bullet first, into a block of wood. Once it moves back in the links, move on to the next round.
The rounds are held by spring tension, but there may be some staining of the case under the link0 -
i bought a bunch of packistani linked i sat watching a movie pulling it out of links with my fingers 0 -
It sucks to pulle them. It sucks to pull them even more after having linked them up for a belt fed, then sold the gun and now need them unlinked [B)]
I too us a block of wood to push the bullet out. I am assuming the ammo you are talking about is on M60 links, if so I push them out from the base. The part that holds them in tight is locked in the rim or the round. Using a little force the tab comes out of the rim and pulls out easily.
If by some chance, unlikely, they are on 1919 links they ONLY come out backward.0 -
If you have access to a linking machine, that's the easiest and fastest way to delink. I have linkers for my 7.62 30-06 and .50 cal and its the only way if your dealing with large amounts of ammo. 0
