colt python date of manufacture question

need to know what year my python was made. serial number K77763. was told it was bought in 1985. thanks

  tried that, but only shows till 1978.

  call Colt, they will give you the date of manf., but my guess, from my records, it was made some time in middle to late 1984.

  thanks, the guy i got it from was the original owner. says he has the original receipt that states 1985. just seeing if he was telling me the truth. thanks

  My Colt date book says K75748 started the year 1982; K99999 started 1983. But, there were also some lower K prefix (five didget) numbers in following years. Yours could be a 1982 model and just didn't get sold until 1985.
