D-Max 10mm - Is it legal to sell?
Anyone know if it is legal to own and or sell a D-Max 10mm pistol? What are they worth? If it can be sold, can it be listed on Gunbroker? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you are referring to the semi-auto pistol, I am curious why you might think it would be illegal. It's weird looking. Kind of like a STEN. Was it put into some special category by our buds at BATFE? 0 -
I think it is on a list. But do not know if it can be sold. Originally posted by andrewsw16

I did a web search on these guns (pistol and carbine versions were made). Go to this website for details
http://www.bren-ten.com/website/id54.html
The site states that the gun is patterned after the British Sten submachine gun and uses, "modified M3 Greasegun mags." I don't know why this gun would be illegal, as it is a semi-auto, unless there are features of the gun that ATFE prohibits, such as firing from an open bolt. Also, some locales, such as California, prohibit magazines with a capacity greater than ten rounds, but THAT relates to the magazine and not the gun. Also, the gun banners may have "listed" the gun as unacceptable (again, in certain locales) due to its Spartan, utilitarian design which features, among other things, a side feed magazine.0 -

Depends on your exact jurisdiction, but the gun ought to be fine to sell or own in most States.
States that ban hi-cap mags will, of course, ban any high cap mags that might go with this gun, though supposedly 5 round mags were manufactured. (Good luck finding one).
For what its worth, these guns are designed to fire from a closed bolt, and I believe they are all semi-automatic.
Here's a pic of the carbine and pistol versions:
And here's the "cover" shot:

I don't know what they are worth, but they're pretty scarce, and they likely do have collectors value.
You bet they can be listed on Gunbroker auction site for sale.
A pretty good article on them can be found here:

If it fires from the closed bolt and only goes bang one time per trigger pull it is fine to sell it, except to residents of states where prohibitied.
If it does go bang more then one time per trigger pull dont post about that fact on the forums.. You might get to go to prison and lose everything you own courtisy of the federal government.
All unregistered "machineguns" are illegal. Semiautomatic pistols are fine. now if it is a pistol that has a stock on it it becomes a Short barreled rifle, and also must be registered or the same penalties as above applies to the owner.0 -
That's kind of a rare critter, thanks for sharing!

Firing from an open bolt vs a closed bolt won't automatically make a gun illegal as far as BATFE is concerned. What MAY concern some guns is how readily they can be CONVERTED to full auto. I think open bolt guns lend themselves to this category more readily than closed bolt guns. The BATFE maintains lists of guns that they have adjudicated to fall into this category. You may be able to find the list online at their site. If not, they field inquiries about specific guns all the time. Go ahead and write them. I wrote them last year. It took about 3 weeks to get a reply. I have to admit their letter was very friendly and very informative. But, I'm almost certain I saw the list somewhere on their web site. 0
