i've found all the usual info on the varios savage pistols and the military competition, but can't find the single definitive reference.
books about colts and lugers are a dime a dozen. is anyone cataloging the savage guns?
thanks for any leads you can supply.

"10 Shots Quick" by Stern, comes to mind. Unfortunately it's long out of print. You might try Amazon or Bookfinder, might get lucky, god only knows what you would have to pay to get your hands on a copy though. 0 -

appreciate the links/leads.
i truly believe these were some of the best made pistols of the era. the machining is better than on same era colts (1908 .380) but the colts are collectibles, while the savage is just "interesting".
by the way, colt savage, astra in the early 1900's had much better machine quality than most of todays guns.

I can certainly agree with the fact that Savage made some great quality pistols. I have a 1917 Savage 380 that my father bought new around 1920. The workmanship really is amazing for the machining capability of that era. The gun exhibits the wear you would expect from a well used old pistol, but the little guy still works. I think this is a keeper due to it being my fathers. As far as I remember this was the only gun he ever had. 0
