    www.stevespages.com/ipb-browning-bps.html might help.
It looks like the shell stops have to go in the reciever before the trigger group. A little grease to hold them in place might help.

    Thanks dcs shooter,
I dug out my 1996 copy (20th Edition) of Numrich Arms Gun Parts bible, but for some reason, there was no exploded view of the Browning BPS shotgun, and it has been around long before 1996. Everything is back together now. Don't know exactly why everything slipped into place when it did. I can say this with absolute certainty, though. The BPS receiver parts do not reassembly nearly as easily as the 870 receiver parts assembly. Maybe because those two parts are 'pinned in place' on the inside of the 870 receiver. On the BPS, it just takes lots of patience and lots of wiggling on those two parts, as they tend to fall out of place and twist and bind. I ended up taping them in place inside the receiver using masking tape. But it still took alot of manipulating of those two parts while simultaneously sliding the trigger assembly in place. Note to others: There is NO NEED to remove the upper pin in the receiver to remove the trigger assembly. Only the lower pin, which is slightly larger in diameter, is used to anchor the trigger assembly in place. If you remove the upper pin by mistake, you are going to have a mysterious bushing roll out when you pull out the trigger assembly. It took me a long time to figure out where that bushing sleeve came from. Of course, dcs shooter's exploded view shows it clearly, but I didn't have that link at the time. Thanks for the help. mak

There's a pin that passes all the way through the trigger assembly and slides into a slot in the receiver. It's round but will be flat on one side. Anyway, even though you think the flat spot goes in one way (either up or down, I can't remember off the top of my head), it goes the other. Rotate the flat spot 90 degress and it will drop right in.
