    Nope, not in the day of the Pre-64 Model 70. Roy Weatherby's cartridges were proprietary to his rifles. That rifle has had work done to it most likely.

    The factory did not stamp (or make) rifles like that.
    In early days Weatherby and no doubt independent gunsmiths would rechamber a .270 Win to .270 Weatherby.
    At Proofhouse.com, Model 70 no 16037 is listed as made in 1938 and Weatherby did not go into business until 1945.
