Must have, well rule one in my book is you must have a .22lr.
Otherwise for deer hunting you are set. Maybe a twelve to mix it up for the older kids.0 -
Seems like you have the short range guns covered. If you hunt in a place where you might get longer shots (150yrds+) get yourself a decent 30-06 or .270. 0 -
If you have an AR, you could alway get the 458 SOCCOM upper. It even uses the AR magazines. 0 -
Is there a law in Indiana where you can only use rifles that are chambered in handgun calibers? 0 -
With the Indiana law, the cartridge must be at least 35 caliber, and the case of pistol length. I do believe they included the length to be long enough to include the 357 Maximum. However, they did not state, unless it was recently enacted, that the case had to be straight walled. There is a fellow in Minnesota that does a 358 WSSM trimmed to meet the length requirement...

It is available on an AR-15 upper. Check it out.

EDIT 1
HenryO,
The information I gave above was for cartridges used in RIFLES. Here are the regs for firearms:
http://www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/files/fw-Deer_Hunting_Equipment.pdf
Cartridges in rifles have to be at least 35 caliber, have a minimum length of 1.16 inches, and maximum length of 1.625 inches.

I was unaware you could use any rifle in Indiana. Is this new, say in the last 8-9 years?
EDIT: Thanks TSR. I used to live in IN and it was shotgun only then. Good to see there are more options now.0 -

YES...within the last two years. I posted the link to the Indiana regulations.
