Savage American Classic 114 vs. Browning X-Bolt
I own the Savage but do like the looks of the X-Bolt. The Savage has the Accutrigger with a detachable box magazine. The Browning has a detachable as well and an adjustable trigger. The Savage is USA made while the Browning is not. Both will do the job, I just wnat your opinion. Caliber is question is .30-06 with a Nikon Team Primos 3x9x40.

utbrowningman,
Both rifles are decent rifles, with the Browning X-Bolt being a bit more pleasing to the eye, and ergonomic. The triggers in both are poor excuses for triggers, when compared to the Winchester Model 70's of old, or the early Remington 700's. The Accutrigger is very OVERRATED, IMHO. Both are capable of excellent accuracy, and I would probably give the edge in that department to the Savage. However, I have not personally tested an X-Bolt yet, although I do own several A-Bolt's, and no Savage's. It is your pick of what you like in a rifle, and how it handles.
As for the chambering of 30-06...that is a hard one to beat. However, since you already have the Savage in 30-06(is that correct?), if I were to go for the Browning, I might opt for something different, depending on what your needs are, and what you are planning to do with it. There is not much out there that is sweeter than a short stroke bolt action(243, 260, 7mm-08, 308, 338 Federal), nor anything more forbidable than a good bolt in something like 7mm Rem.Mag., 300 Win.Mag., or the 338 Win.Mag. All of those are tried and true sweet hearts, that will handle ANYTHING in NORTH AMERICA.
