SBR Form 1 Question - Help Needed Please

Good Evening - I am not a dealer of any type - I just purchased a Sig 556 pistol and intend on completing the necessary requirements to register it as a SBR so that upon approval and receipt of my stamp and paperwork from BATF I can add a stock. I have a couple of questions please..

1> Do I only have to complete the Form 1 and follow all instructions identified on that form ( 2 original Form 1's filled out and signed by local Sheriff, each form with my photo and the Fingerprint card # FD-258 and a $ 200.00 M.O.) or do I also have to fill out a Form 4?

2> On the Form 1 there are three boxes that I am not sure what to put -(c)Caliber, Gauge, or Size - the pistol is marked 5.56 Nato - Do I use this as the caliber marking or do I reference .223 Remington?

Length (inches)(f) Overall - Do I put the current overall length or what the length will be after the stock is added?

(h) Additional Description - Include all numbers and other identifing data which will appear on this firearm (key word being "which")
Do I put all of the information currently on the pistol - P556,5.56 Nato, Sig Sauer, Exeter, N.H., Pistol Only, the SN# and then add my first name, last name, city, and state to this box? I read that I will have to add my first and last name, city and state to this gun if I am the person modifying once approval is provided?

The markings say "pistol only" - Do I have to list this as part of the current markings?

Thanks in advance for the assistance and if anyone has experience or lessons learned about this process please chime in. I do not want to go thru this process only to have the form returned for a stupid mistake on my part.

    1 Only the form 1

    2 223 or 5.56 will be fine, doesn't matter

    3 No, you have to have it engraved with your own serial #, you as the mfgr and the town and state. All the Sig info is not important or needed. Do not put the stock on until it has been engraved with that info and you have your tax stamp back.

    On the card put "Making a short barreled rifle"

    Thank you Chuck for your responses. The current pistol length is 20" now but it will be 30.5" when I add the stock (I measured the collapsible stock on my AR rifle at 10.5"). DO I list the length as 20" or 30.5" on the Form 1 under "Overall length"?

    And again please help me understand this one - What do I need to write in the box labeled - Additional Description on my Form 1? Mark Dillon, Columbus, MS and then I can add my initials in front or behind the current SN# to create a new SN#?

    Thank you very much cpermd for your assistance.

    Any recommendations related to the revised SN# sequence or can it be as simple as adding MD to the start or end of the current SN# on this weapon?

    On the fingerprint card FD-258 - What do I put in the "reason Fingerprinted" box?

    One thing to consider is that you cannot go shorter than the barrel length listed on the form - but you can go longer. May want to put something silly short in for the barrel length to give you all the options in the future.
