No one, they keep blowing up [B)]
Someone might still be making them but most of the common companies have quit selling them.0 -

I have read the warning about the simi auto .17 HMR I have not seen one for using the .17 in a pistol. Below is the Excel .17 pistol and I have seen another manufacturer I could not find that offer .17, both are very expensive linked below. Also there is an offering by Volquartsen to convert the MK III Ruger to .17 HMR, it is a great looking piece linked below. The Volquartsen simi auto rifle listed below is a very interesting looking piece that fires he .17 HMR round linked below. I would love to see someone figure out a compact model for the HMR, the offerings here are large frame to handle the power of this round. Notice the size of the chamber of the Volquartsen simi rife, great looking piece.

I did look at your links, the first is for an HM2, not HMR. They are not the same round the HM2 is based on the .22lr where the HMR is based on the .22 mag.
You were talking about a Ruger conversion, are you sure it is to HMR and not HM2? The reason I ask is the HMR is too long to fit in the Ruger mag..........
I have not heard of no problems with the HM2, just the HMR.0 -
1. Scroll down on the first link and look at the other pistol offered in .17 HMR below The Mark III conversion.
2. Did you notice the Beautiful HMR semi-auto offered in the second link.
3. The third link has the HMR simi-auto pistol listed in it. There is another pistol that is similar to this one pictured the other has a very hi-capacity magazine.
To add to the original post I just read an article referring to the conversion of one of the Ruger .22 simi-autos to HMR, I could not find the artical again to post here. I think there are some HMR simi-autos out there if you want to pay the price to have one.

plc1,
I believe that Volquartsen still offer's them, and they are pricey.
The ones that keep blowing up are the Remington 597's. The history of the 597 is a bit interesting, as it was designed to replace the POS Viper that they offered. The 597 was not much better, as Remington cheaped out on a decent feeding device(magazine). This was more prevailant in the 22WMR, and 17 HMR chamberings. The 17 HMR develops a little higher pressures than the 22WMR, and needs a heavier bolt or recoil spring to retard the opening of the bolt while the pressures are still high. With the wisdom of Big Green, they decided to go with a one size fits all for the magnum chamberings, and did not thuroughly proove this system out, before they took it to market(as they do many things). Now they want to offer the customer half of what they paid for the rifle, or less, on a coupon to buy more Remington junk. They also badmouthed the ammunition in 17HMR, that was being made for them elsewhere, and putting their label on it...in which there was nothing wrong with it.
That is just an FYI. You may be able to find a few semi-auto's on the auction side.

The 17HM2 conversion of the Ruger 10/22 is suposed to be a good compromise. The ones that I have shot at the range gave up very little to my bolt action 17HMR. 0 -
I'm using a 10-22Magnum with a 17HMR barrel; the rounds fit the mag, but only 9 of 'em!
So what's the problem? Accuracy is on par with my CZ bolt action, it just puts more out faster.0 -
I have been waiting for some one to convert an AMT automag II. Looks like that would be easy. 0
