savage 99a date

hello all does anyone have info for savage dates of manufature? i need it on serial #d615222 99a in 250 savage.

    Savage Collectors assn. has almost nothing but 99 collectors on it...might have a serialization list posted?

    1918 if a 1999, post 1951 if a 99. Records post 1951 don't exist, and blocks of time based upon characteristics is the best you can do.


    Thanks for the memory jog dfletcher. I did a c&p on that post and show B as 1950.

    On 1948 (maybe 51, not 100%) and later, there's a letter in a circle stamped on the lever boss of the frame - A is 1948, B is 1949 and so on. Hopefully that's right - pretty sure I got the info here and have checked on my own 99 and a few others.
