I am looking at the Cooper Rifles, but trying to judge if I am getting additional value for the $'s spent say over a Kimber. Almost double the price for the Cooper. Can anyone help lay out the additional value with the Cooper? I know a lot is subjective - 2 position vs. 3 position safety, control round feed vs. Sako extractor. What I am looking for is there really a quality difference that will show up immediately or over time between these 2 guns? If so what are those differences?

Really depends on what model you are looking at and the use. I have a Kimber 84M 7mm-08 that is a wonderful hunting rifle, my Dad liked it so much he has a Montana 7mm-08. They are acceptable accuracy wise but not great, we each got Dall sheep with them. Looking to pick up another in 338 Federal when I can afford it.

That said, I was looking for a varmint rifle that I could shoot factory class with and will be picking up my Cooper 22 Ultra Varminter tomorrow.

For a hunting rifle, I prefer the 3 position, bolt safety and CRF of the Kimber. For a controlled environment, ultra accurate rifle, I went with the Cooper as I believe that they are likely to be more accurate (right or wrong).

    Hope that helps.
