Spanish Mauser Scope Issue
Hello to all.
I have a 1916 Spansih Mauser in .308. I was looking at putting a scope on it. I wondered if the leupold and redfield mounts that fit standard 98 Mausers would also fit this spanish mauser? Thanks for any info.

No.
Your Model 1916 requires a different mount from the various 98s because the front receiver ring is smaller in diameter so that it doesn't stick up as high. Correct mounts are available, though.0 -

The bases you need to look for from any manufacturer are for the small ring Mauser (M93, 94, 95, 96).
Yes, Leupold/Redfield, Burris and Weaver make bases for these models. Most of the manufacturers websites have a chart or reference section to assist with this decision:

Look at Brownells or Midway for price checks although Optics Planet sometimes has some deals. Don't forget to check the Gunbroker Auctions for parts also.
