In my younger years {read that as more hair/less gut}, I have used all three types in NRA competition matches. Nothing touches the Anschutz 54 series of guns. My old 1413 will out shoot 99.99% of anyone that picks it up. It never "held me back" and in the early 70's I almost made it to the Olympic smallbore team. Bob

I have know a number of NRA Small bore shooters. I am not un-biased in my opinion as Even thou I never competed in small bore only Pistol from 1972-2005 I can say the 40 X barreled action could most likely hold it's own with any rifle made today. I Think the big jump is in today's stock design. and bedding. I have a Remington model 37 that was made in 1941. Fit and finish as well as attention to quality details is IMHO better then any other target rifle Bar None even the Magazine is milled.

Same here, the Anschutz 1413 was THE rifle, nothing else was even in the running.
