Marlin Mod 20A barrel end threaded ?
Howdy all ,I have a Marlin Mod 20A slide action ( aka pump )serial number below 3000 which shoots s-l-lr and has an octagon barrel , the tube below the barrel is short and only holds 10 rounds . My question is the end of the barrel has a removable cap ( also octagonal and matches perfectly ) and when removed exposes the threaded barrel end . What purpose does this threaded end serve ? Is it for a silencer , muzzle break or ?????? Ive contacted Marlin Firearms to verify that it was made in 1911 yet they do not know who or why the barrel end was threaded . The blueing is %95 with very little rust pits at all. The stock looks to have been refinished many years ago as the finish has a few small flakes off of it ,and just a few small scratches on the stock . Any info or info resources would be great . Thanks

Prior to legislation in the 1930's suppressors were legal to own and use. It is not uncommon to find early production rifles like your Marlin threaded for Maxim silencers. 0
