Metal Butt Plate on 1964 Winchester Model 94?
I have a 1964 Winchester Model 94 30-30 (SN 2760661) with a metal checkered butt plate. I have no reason to think it has been replaced, but from my reading it seems metal butt plates were only found on the pre-64s. Is it possible there was some carry-over into 1964, or has this butt plate likely been replaced? Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a Win94 in .30-30Win that was made in 1964 and that I bought new in 1964 when I was 15 years old. It sits next to the computer here waiting for coyotes to get a little too bold with my chickens.
I just picked it up to inspect the checkered steel buttplate. Therefore the answer is that there are factory original steel buttplates on these guns (maybe not on all of them) and yours probably is factory, too.0 -

Thanks, Wolf. I appreciate the feedback.0 -
The flat checkered steel butt plate was standard from late 1945 through at least the early 1970s. 0
