The rifle SHOULD HAVE BEEN SENT TO BROWNING IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!I would not mention that I took it to some unknown gunsmith when you contact Browning.

When a gun is not working, how do I decide weather to send it to the factory or take it to the gunsmith?

Ideally, anytime a current production rifle breaks, or a rifle in which the manufacturer is still in business, it is best to send it to the manufacturer or an authorized repair station.

At the minimum, a call to the manufacturer would have been advisable at the first breakage to see if it was a known problem. At the worse case, the first time it broke again after they supposedly fixed it.

Sounds like they were fixing the symptom and not the cause of the problem. They see a broken part and assume that is the problem instead of: why did this part break?
