You done extremely well, especially if you have a use for that much magnification. Congrats! 0 -
I definitely have use for the magnification. I like to see my holes in paper at 250 or so yards... This is my first 30mm tube however. Can anyone tell me the differences/ pros/ cons vs. a 1 inch tube? 0 -
Wow, great deal. Back in December I purchased a Nightforce 8-32 X 56 NXS scope but I had to pay $1755. The Black Diamond is the top of the line Burris and as long as it's not hot you should be good to go. I'd love to stumble into the same deal. 0 -
Another vote for you did outstanding. These scopes new run about twice that with a standard reticle. And as scope quality gets better, more used price is retained. Which reticle did you get? Bare minimum you are at least $100 ahead of the game. 0 -
I love the nightforces but unfortunately, they are far out of my price range. The Burris was too until I stumbled upon it in the bargain cave at Cabellas. It was marked $800 on sale for $549. I said I'd take it and asked the guy behind the counter what he REALLY wanted for it. He came back and said $468. I took it to the front and signed up for a Cabellas Visa card. The promotional offer was $85 off a $300 purchase so I got another $85 off. My total came to $412.02 after tax. I laughed all the way back to Ohio. I'd been looking for a deal on this particular scope for about 3 months and had given up because I just didn't want to part with the money. I got lucky and happened to be in the right place at the right time. I plan to eventually use it for prairie dog hunts in Texas where it will surely be hot. But I can always back off magnification to help deal with mirage. It's going on a .223 so I won't be shooting past 300yds anyways. My friends all strongly suggested I find a used Leupold but Leupold doesn't have the high magnification I desired. 0 -

I got the Fine Plex reticle. The scope it's going to replace is a Simmons White tail classic 6-24x50 Mil Dot. I was actually looking for a smaller reticle for shooting groups with as I try out different loads so it couldn't have been a more perfect find! Unless it came with a truckload of Bergers I suppose... [}:)]
Update: Got the scope mounted today and I'm pleasantly excited to find absolutely NOTHING wrong with it. It is EXACTLY what I wanted. I was HIGHLY impressed with the 30mm tube. It was brighter in the scope than it was outside! Magic in the forest stuff! It performed flawlessly and was very clear. The windage and elevation caps are all chewed up from what appears to be a pair of pliars the previous owner used on them at some point in time. A phone call to Burris the other day got a new set of caps put in the mail to me at no charge even though I offered to pay for them. This is an outstanding scope and the price I got it for only sweetened the deal. To anyone considering one of these: BUY IT!0
