Is .270 just your fathers caliber?
Many of the new guys in my deer camp are moving toward the newvo rounds like .223 for big game. Years ago it was all .270, 308, or 30-06. This was in NY and Pa for white tail deer.
Are these new .223 better or just a fad?

Sorry to hijack this heading, but before I could post, the moderators locked the thread. Nononsense, maybe you've answered it before, but could you run down the 4 SPLENDID rifles you have in your signature? Thanks 0 -

Sometimes it's tough to get nn to open up to great things. I'm guessing that the second and third rifles are a: (2) 1891 Argentino Cavalry Carbine and (3) Argentino 1909?
The first and fourth are obviously well done customs based on miltary Mausers. nononsense could give you better insight as to what exactly those are.0 -
I was at the range friday afternoon dialing in some customers hunting rifles, our deer season opened saturday. The place was crowded, all the last minute guys trying to get the ol' meatgetter on paper befor the big day. We have 5 benches, there was a 270 at every bench. Everyone from the guy who owns the local garden center to our trusted Washington State patrolman where shooting 270s. It might be different where your from, but out here in the Cascade mountains there's alot of 270s, and we eat alot of venison.

Back on point. It sounds like from the 3rd iteration of the question on .270 going forward as a viable round past present and future...
Actually I think since Zaphodb17 is relatively new he may not have known how to change a title. I do believe this post is regarding nononsenses fine rifles pictured in his signature space.0 -
