Reticle Question
An old friend of mine had a scope that the black reticle turned white when there was a dark background. I know that it was an expensive scope, but I don't even know what to search for to find this type of reticle. Can somebody tell me what it's called?

It is in use in several types of scopes today, but also very inexpensive models. It is where the reticle itself is etched in glass. If you put your hand over the objective lense end of the scope, you can see the "white cross hairs".

So how would I search for a scope with that feature?0 -
If you are shooting against a dark background, another alternative would be an illuminiate reticle that could be turned on in a low light or dark background situation. 0 -

I know. But this particular scope didn't need any batteries or to be charged with a flashlight. Also, it was automatic. If part of your target was dark, that part of the reticle would be white.0 -
I am almost thinking it was a Trijicon. They have that Tritium illuminated reticle. Google "Trijicon", and see what you come up with.

Check out "front focal plane" in a google search...does what you describe in a pretty broad range of prices. 0
